Description
Sustainably source Palo Santo wood sticks, imported from Peru.
Bursera graveolens, known in Spanish as “Palo Santo” which literally means holy wood is a tree that inhabits the coast of Ecuador.
Palo Santo has a high concentration of Limonene, a medical terpene known to be a strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antisepetic agent.
Palo Santo wood is used as a sacred incense due to the strong, fresh trail it produces when it smouldered. The palo santo pieces do go out by themselves and are therefore safe to use indoors. Once enough aroma is released, simply allow to self extinguish or place on a shell/bowl.
We suggest burning the palo santo pieces in an abalone or scallop shell for 2 reasons:
- The shell provides a safe flameproof surface/bowl for the wood to be burnt in.
- The shell represents water, the palo santo wood represents (and grown from) the earth, the flame represents fire and a gentle waft of a hand/feather/breath represents wind.
